About
Andrea Roelofse (b. 1988, The Netherlands) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam, whose practice bridges the fields of visual arts and architecture. Rooted in an ongoing inquiry into the emotional and spiritual impact of contemporary society, Andrea’s work explores the notion of soul loss - a condition she associates with growing up in a culture steeped in rationalism, intellectualism, and disconnection from the inner self.
Her work spans spatial installations, drawings, and objects, each marked by a quiet intensity. Her evolving body of work reflects a sensitivity to silence, emptiness, and the unseen - exploring how space, structure, and repetition can become vessels for the intangible. Through these means, Andrea creates poetic frameworks that question our modes of perception and invite deeper encounters with the self through the spaces we inhabit.
Andrea graduated in 2014 from the Interior Architecture department at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (KABK). Her graduation project, Vacant, received the BNI Prize (Association of Dutch Interior Architects). She has expanded her practice internationally, studying and working at renowned institutions such as Central Saint Martins in London, the Estonian Academy of the Arts in Tallinn, and during a formative working period in Tokyo, Japan.
